Program

Day 1: Arrival in Warsaw (B/-/D)

Welcome by your tour escort. Depending on the arrival time, the transfer to the hotel will be preceded by an orientation tour of the city. Dinner and overnight in Warsaw.

Day 2: Warsaw (B/-/D)

Guided tour of Poland’s capital. Stare Miasto, the old town, entirely rebuilt after the Second World War, is listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site today. Its narrow streets are bordered by old houses and surrounded by the remains of the city walls with ditches and barbicans. Entry to the Royal Castle, Residence of the kings of Poland and the seat of the Diet (Polish parliament) is included. The visit ends with a walk through Łazienki park, the green heart of the city, with its romantic palaces, including the charming “Water Palace”. Dinner and overnight in Warsaw. Optional: Evening concert of Chopin Music in one of the palaces of Łazienki park.

Day 3: Częstochowa – Krakow (B/-/D)

Depart for Częstochowa, one of the main places of pilgrimage in the Christian world. Lunch in Częstochowa. Visit the basilica of the Pauline Monastery on the hill of Jasna Gora, sheltering the Madonna with child, known as the “Black Virgin”. It is assumed that she was painted by St. Luc and brought to Częstochowa in the 14th century. Continue to Krakow and arrive in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in in Krakow. Optional: traditional dinner with folklore dancers and musicians.

Day 4: Krakow (B/-/D)

Guided visit of Poland’s ancient capital, one of the country’s most beautiful cities, dominated by the castle of Wawel, proudly perched on a rock above the Vistula. Visit the royal castle with its remarkable Flemish tapestries. Discover the kings' and poets' tombs in the cathedral, an admirable building serving as a pantheon. Continue to the lower city with its huge market square, elegant buildings and the famous Cloth Hall. Walk through the paved streets past the Renaissance palace and the buildings of the university. Continue to the Jewish quarter, Kazimierz, admirably well-preserved. It was here, where several scenes from the movie “Schindler’s List” were realised. Visit the Remuh synagogue. Leisure time in the late afternoon. Dinner and accommodation in Krakow. Optional: Traditional “Klezmer” evening with dinner of Jewish specialities and live music.

Day 5: Auschwitz – Wroclaw (B/-/D)

Depart for Auschwitz. Guided tour of the concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau, a place of commemoration and reflection on the Nazi atrocities. Afternoon continue to Wroclaw for a guided tour of the “Polish Venice” with its bridges, walkways spanning the Oder and its canals. The old town is famous for its Gothic town hall, the “Ratusz”, situated in the middle of the large square and the cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic art. Discover the university, home to several winners of the Nobel prize. Dinner and overnight in Wroclaw.

Day 6: Wroclaw – Poznań (B/-/D)

Today, visit the panorama of Raclawice in Wroclaw, a gigantic painting (15m x 114m), made on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the victory against the Russians at Raclawice. Continue to Poznań for a guided visit of the historical center, including the Ostrow Tumski cathedral, St. Stanislas and St. Madeleine church and the old market square dominated by the majestic town hall. Dinner and overnight in Poznań.

Day 7: Nieborow – Żelazowa Wola – Warsaw (B/-/D)

Depart for Nieborow and its sumptuous palace, a magnificent aristocratic residence surrounded by beautiful gardens. Built in the 17th century, its Polish architecture was inspired by the Italian Baroque style. Continue to Żelazowa Wola, the village where Frederic Chopin was born. Visit the little family house converted into a museum. Continue to Warsaw. Check-in at your hotel in Warsaw. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 8: Warsaw (B/-/-)

Transfer to Warsaw airport.
