Hungary : Must See
As a tour operator, we offer to discover Budapest, capital and treasure of Hungary. Classified by Unesco and famous for its imposing Parliament, the so-called "Pearl of the Danube" is full of buildings that are just as fascinating as each other. As for the famous Puszta, or "Great Plain", it is a typical landscape of the country characterized by a region of steppes, which allows to approach the more traditional and authentic character of Hungary. With Travel Europe, each program can be specially adapted to your requests. Our offer ranges from city trips to inter-country tours through Hungary.
Puszta
The term “Puszta” is derived from the Old Slavic word “pust”, which means “barren” or “empty”. Today the term stands for the pastureland and grass steppes in the area between Lake Neusiedl and Lake Balaton and in central Hungary. The cowboys of the Puszta and the traditional costumes offer a great folklore spectacle for everyone today.
Danube
The Danube forms a wide loop north of Budapest before continuing its course southwards. The landscape is beautiful and there are many sights in the area with panoramic views of the Danube. Visit Visegrád, Esztergom or Szentendre and the castles on the hills!
Lake Balaton
Lake Balaton is the largest freshwater lake in Europe. Thousands of tourists spend their holidays here and enjoy the shallow, warm water, which is lined by around 120 fine sandy beaches. Lake Balaton is not only ideal for swimming, but also for fishing and boat trips. In winter you can even go ice skating on the frozen lake.
Holloko
The village, declared a Unesco World Heritage Site, is one of the smallest and most beautiful in Hungary. It is criss-crossed by two cobblestone streets: a stroll through the alleys of Hollókő takes you back to the old Hungary, where women still like to wear traditional costumes.
Eger
Hungary's oldest city is also considered to be one of the most attractive. It is located in a valley, surrounded by wooded hills and vineyards. The latter have given Eger its reputation as a wine town. There are numerous wine bars and traditional, partly underground, wine cellars. The cityscape is characterized by baroque buildings, the minaret from the time of Ottoman rule, the medieval castle and the cathedral.
Budapest
Budapest, the "Pearl of the Danube", is one of the most beautiful European capitals. Connected by nine bridges, the city is actually divided into two parts: Buda and Pest. Visit the Castle Hill: the palace houses the Hungarian National Gallery, the Historical Museum and the Széchényi National Library. The Parliament, one of the landmarks of Budapest, can be admired in all its glory, especially on a boat trip. The fishing bastion as well as the numerous baths and thermal baths are important sights of the city.
