Day 4: Berat – Vlore (B/-/D)

Morning drive to Berat “The City of a Thousand Windows”, which is one of the oldest continuously inhabited regions in the world. Geographically beautiful, Berat was built around a precipitous river gorge, leading up to pine forests. Its UNESCO-listed historic centre reveals cobbled streets, ancient churches and mosques, a fascinating ethnographic museum and very pretty white, Ottoman buildings tumbling down steep slopes. In the afternoon you continue to Vlore, located at the so called Albanian Riviera. Vlore is a Greek city founded in the 6th century BCE. Dinner and overnight in Vlore.

Day 5: Butrint – Saranda (B/-/D)

You should look forward to the ride you can expect today. We take the coastal road from Vlore to Butrint which provides stunning views. This afternoon you visit UNESCO listed Butrint, which is one of the great archaeological sites in the Balkans. The setting is idyllic with the ruins nestling in the bend of the Vivari River. After spending time exploring this fascinating site, you continue to the shores of the Mediterranean and Saranda for the night. Dinner and overnight in Saranda.

Day 6: Free day in Saranda (B/-/D)

Saranda is the unofficial capital of the Albanian Riviera, and, come the summer months it seems like half Tirana relocates here to enjoy the busy beach and busier nightlife along its crowd-filled seaside promenade. What was once a sleepy fishing village is now a thriving city, and while Saranda has lost much of its charm in the past two decades, it has retained much of its charisma. Dinner and overnight in Saranda.

Day 7: Saranda – Delphi (B/-D)

Set off from Saranda for Delphi, a spectacular cliff-side amphitheatre. Of course, what made Delphi most famous was its oracle: pilgrims would come from all over the Greek world and beyond, to pay their respects at the Temple of Apollo and seek guidance from the oracle. Dinner and overnight in Delphi.

Day 8: Delphi – Athens (B/-/D)

Your city tour includes the Archaelogical Museum approached via the Sacred Way, the Temple of Apollo. Also see the Stadium and the Castillian Fountain, where pilgrims cleansed themselves in preparation for consulting the oracle. Your travels then continue to the ancient city of Athens, the modern capital of Greece. In the evening, enjoy a hearty celebration dinner at a local restaurant in true Greek style, complete with wine and good cheer. Overnight in Athens.

Day 9: Athens (B/-/D)

Enjoy a guided city tour. You will see the Panathinaiko Stadium where the first Olympic Games took place. The National Gallery, the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, a monumental gateway resembling a Roman triumphal, the Prime Minister‘s residence, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the former Royal Palace, guarded by the colorful Evzons. Dinner at a traditional Greek tavern in the old part of Athens. Overnight in Athens.

Day 10: Athens (B/-/D)

After breakfast, continue the city tour with a visit of the Acropolis of Athens and its monuments. They form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world. Visit the most important monuments: the Parthenon, the Erechtheon, the Propylaea, the monumental entrance to the Acropolis, designed by Mnesicles and the small temple Athena Nike. Remainder of the day is free. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Athens.
